How to save open tabs for later in Microsoft Edge?

While doing research for our work or studies, or while just casually browsing the internet, we often come across a lot of interesting or useful information across various tabs in our browser.

You can save them as bookmarks, but bookmarking a lot of tabs one by one from a browsing session is not productive and useful, especially if you want to access the same tabs, together, in a group for later use.

So saving your group of open tabs from a particular browsing session is the only option that proves to be quite useful for the long term.

How to save tabs in Microsoft Edge?

There are several ways you can save your opened tabs for later in Microsoft Edge. Some of the them are -

1. Saving all open tabs (group of tabs) to favorites

To do this, right-click on any of your open tabs and choose Add all tabs to favorites from the context menu. Alternatively, you can also press Ctrl+Shift+D.

You can save the tabs to the Favorites Bar or you can create a new folder, give it a name and click on save and a new folder will be created.

2. Saving all open tabs to collections

If you want to save all open tabs for later in Microsoft Edge, this is another great option that is built-in on the Edge browser itself. To save all the open tabs, right-click on any one of your open tabs and select “Add all tabs to a new collection”.

By default, the collection will show the current date. You can edit it and give it any name you want. By pressing the back arrow, you can access the saved tabs from previous sessions.

You can access all saved tab collections from your browsing sessions by clicking on the three-dot menu at the top right of Microsoft Edge and selecting Collections. Alternatively, you can also press Ctrl+Shift+Y.

3. Using the Toby extension

This extension will help you save your open tabs for later and will also organize them into different collections. You can access your saved sessions on your new tab page. This is a really useful tool if you do a lot of research, writing or even for school related work if you’re a student.

4. Using Toby Mini

If you don’t want Toby to take over your new tab page, you can use Toby Mini instead of Toby. By using this extension, you can save multiple tabs in Edge before closing. It offers similar features to Toby but the saved tabs won’t be available on the new tab page of your browser but you can easily access the saved tabs by clicking on the Toby Mini icon.

To do so, follow these steps -

  • Click on the three dots in the top right of the browser. It will open the Edge browser's menu.

  •  After opening the context menu, click on Extensions.

  •   The extensions pop up box will open up. Now click on "Manage Extensions".

  •  After opening the Extensions page, turn on the Allow extensions from other stores in the bottom left corner.

  • A dialog box for confirmation will appear. Click on Allow.

Now, you'll be able to download any extension from the Chrome Web Store.

Alternatively, you can also turn on this option by directly going to the extension page and allowing as shown in the image below.
